Felix Baumgartner’s Jump and Goal Setting

You’ve probably heard of Felix Baumgartner. Last week, he took a jump from way up in space. That day, he set a record for making the highest jump and was labeled as the first man to travel at supersonic speed without the aid of an aircraft or vehicle. Awesome. No, incredible. It’s just amazing what people can do when they set a goal and work on achieving it.Felix Baumgartner's Jump and Goal Setting

Perhaps that’s how Felix was able to do such a risky jump like that. He set a goal and then worked on making it happen. Of course, he didn’t do that without proper research and probably gathering buckets load of courage. Even though he was an experienced skydiver and has made more than two thousand jumps in the sky, going as high as outside planet Earth was probably scary. So he must have had lots of courage to have done something like that. Perhaps he got that from himself for the purpose of breaking records, from his friends and family, from the world who watched him do the jump through Youtube, and from Joe Kittinger, the first man who attempted to break the sound barrier and holds the longest free fall record, who coached him as he made his jump from the balloon.

It is also important to note that Felix’s goals to break the sound barrier and possibly break the longest free fall record were set five years ago. This means that in order to succeed just like he did, you must have patience and perseverance along with the mentioned necessary information, courage, and motivation. Patience is one of the most important characteristics that one must have and develop when setting goals. The reason is because goals take time to accomplish and if you’re just in a hurry to get things over and done with, you’re likely to encounter problems, to not learn what you should, and might not even achieve your goal which could then lead to frustration and what not.

So whether you need money to send yourself to medical school or you need the sponsorship of Red Bull to make your goal a reality, do what you can to gather the necessary resources. In the case of Felix, he had the help of Red Bull to do that.

Now with this new page of history written, what’s in it for you? Well, why not take inspiration from Felix and use this opportunity to set your own goals and make it happen? Now I’m not saying you should go sky diving but you should start thinking about those goals you’ve been putting off and start setting them. Also, make sure to go through the process step by step so that goal achievement won’t be disappointing and will actually be a learning experience for you.
